Spanish payment processor PayRetailers has acquired Amsterdam-based payment orchestration provider Celeris, further bolstering its capabilities and growth strategy in Latin America. Financial details of the transaction remain confidential.
Celeris, led by CEO Sunil Jhamb—who also founded Dutch fintech Newgen Payments—offers a platform that connects businesses to over 75 acquiring partners via a single API integration. Its services include direct-to-merchant payment solutions as well as white-label offerings tailored for payment service providers, banks, and fintech firms.
This acquisition follows PayRetailers’ December 2024 purchase of Brazilian Payment Institution Transfeera, a move that granted the company a Central Bank of Brazil licence and access to roughly 450 local clients. Transfeera’s expertise lies in enterprise payment management and bank data validation.
By integrating Celeris’ orchestration gateway, PayRetailers aims to enhance its presence across Latin America, where it already facilitates acceptance and processing of more than 300 local payment methods in ten markets. The company highlights that this acquisition supports its international expansion ambitions, including plans to develop credit card processing, multi-region orchestration, and entry into new geographic areas.
With these strategic moves, PayRetailers is positioning itself as a leading fintech player focused on streamlining complex payment ecosystems across Latin America and beyond.
